Will my eyebrows grow back?

That is the #1 question I receive when I meet a new ‘Brow Grooming’ client and my answer is “it depends!”

We’ve all been blessed and cursed to grow up in the 90’s where thin brows were the style. Blessed because you were that girl if you did have thin brows and cursed because now in our 30’s, our brows have gone thru some sh*t!

Let’s talk about it ..

In order to determine if your brow hairs will grow we have to be realistic with the expectations. If you been waxing/threading your brows every 2 weeks for the last 20 years, chances are your hair follicle has died and is not coming back. It is rare to see those hairs grow back even if you have been letting them grow for the past 2 years.

We also have to remember as we age, the skin loses elasticity and the follicles begin to die off as well. Yea girl, it’s hard being us. As opposed to men, who may grow more hair in places as they age. insert eye roll

Do serums really work?

From what I’ve observed, no. There is no FDA approved serums on the market that prove hair growth. But what serums are good at is conditioning and strengthening your already existing hairs making your brows appear fuller.

Some serums prolong the growing stage so your hairs don’t shed as often and also coat the existing follicle to make them appear thicker.

I’ve had clients use serums and instead of growing more hair, their existing hair grew longer. Which can be a goal for some of you but keep in mind your shape may remain thin.

3 TIPS to get them growing ..

Using my loyal/ faithful clients as examples, LEAVING THEM ALONE helps the best. I typically see my clients once a month. Plucking also helps as you have more control over which hairs are being removed. Removing the same unwanted hairs over and over train the brow to maintain a shape.

EXFOLIATE your brow area. Many of us forget this part of our face, not sure why, but exfoliating can stimulate hair growth! Removing the dead skin cells definitely allow your brows to breathe a bit more.

STOP applying retinas/retinols to your brow area. It clogs the pores making it harder for hair growth and possibly promoting hair loss.

So Giselle, what are you saying?! Am I doomed with thin eyebrows forever?

Over the past 4 years, I’ve had the pleasure of having loyal clients who stay the course and trust the brow journey. There are quite a few clients who have seen significant growth and an overall better shape that forms their face. It is not impossible but it does take dedication and maintenance to get there. Considering that we’re being real with ourselves, I wouldn’t say you’re doomed. We just have to work with what we got!

If you’re not yet ready to for a more permanent solution like microblading, we offer other services that can create a temporary illusion of thicker brows.

Brow lamination will straighten hairs out, creating a thicker brow from the root of the hair.

Tinting is a great temporary solution to create darker, bolder brows that give shape!

During your brow grooming appt., we can discuss the options. Don’t think that you don’t need to get your brows done because EVERYONE can use a professional cleaning. It is a game changer and I will walk you thru steps to get closer to your goal and/or simply make them look good!

Remember, you’re STILL that girl with thin or thick brows!
