People are tattooing beauty marks and freckles more than ever!
The last time I blogged about freckles it was 2019, and I just got certified in providing the service. It’s 4 years later and freckles/beauty marks are number 3 in most booked service.
SO, I figured now would be the perfect time to talk about them…
First, I’ve never seen so much controversy over a service the way I see it for this service. Some people love them, get them tattooed and live happily ever after. While others are born with them, get them lasered off and can’t fathom why people would pay for them. If you’re one of those people, stop reading now.
What’s the difference between freckles and beauty marks?
I would describe beauty marks as flat isolated spots on the body or face. The technique for beauty marks is that of a pointillism method to accurately deposit ink into the desired spot. These are usually dark and dense and can be tattooed anywhere on the body. Single beauty marks are available!
Freckles are described as grouped irregular spots on the face. The technique for freckles is machine work, creating a faded, soft edge spot for more natural results. Freckles are priced by amount load. See below for description.
How long do they last?
This is another semi-permanent tattoo so they will fade over time but they last 2-3 years before needing a color boost.
Is it painful?
Generally, no. The initial contact of the needle may hurt but a numbing cream is used once skin is pricked. You won’t feel much at all after that.
Placement?
Placement is often times a collaboration between the artist and client on the spot but if you have inspiration or a reference photo, bring it in! Freckles usually look best when they are stacked over time. Scheduling different sessions will create a more balanced and natural look.
I honestly think this service is SUPER cute especially if it’s something you wish you were born with. We talk about and draw placement before beginning so you’re always in the know about what’s happening. Color selection varies on preference and skin tone. Aftercare isn’t too complicated AND a 6 week touch up is included in the price!
